The inspiration of this article came from the planning of a proposal trip for a friend that is going to Melbourne in the mid of September.
Below are my suggestions that are different from the usual route when you think of Melbourne.
Ditch the hotel breakfast and save the breakfast money for Degraves street!
In the Morning…complete your breakfast by hanging out with the local hipsters..(opening hours for weekday starts at 8am,weekends at 9am)

Often when we go overseas for holiday, sitting at a local café and having a slow coffee while watching passer-by is a kind of relaxation too.
Degraves Street is something that is really different from the normal streets in Melbourne, you have to be there to experience the difference yourself, its like entering into a whole new world.
Filled with European style cafes and food stalls for the local hipster. If you are not careful, you might miss this narrow lane easily.Degraves street is the best place to immerse yourself into the local culture.
How to get there?
By taking the free Melbourne city circle tram 35 and stop at the swanston st and flinders st station, cross the road and turn left and keep a look out on your right the small alley degraves st.

After a fulfilling breakfast and some people watching, head off to the countryside of Melbourne, Dandenong Ranges, to immerse in the vast tulips field equivalent to Netherlands with half the budget for flight!Love is in the air!!!

The dates of the 65rd Tesselaar Tulip Festival 2018 are out, its from 15 September 2018 to 14 October 2018, you still have time to book your holiday! You will be seeing almost a million Tulips across 25 acres of farmland, including over 120 varieties, all set in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges! WOW WOW WOW!!!Lots of instagram worthy photos!
Origin of Tulips
Netherlands are very famous for their wide varieties of tulips but it is not the origin of this beautiful flower.Tulips are actually from central asia and turkey. Tulips were originally wild flowers growing in the Central Asia and were first cultivated by the Turks as early as 1,000 AD. Tulips in Netherlands only started in the 16th century when the flowers were brought from turkey to netherlands .
The word tulip came from the Turkish word for turban. The festival linked the tulip festival with a Turkish weekend very well too: http://tulipfestival.com.au/events/other/turkish-weekend/
Its an hour away from Melbourne central.
How to get there?
More information can be found here: http://tulipfestival.com.au/travel/
Romance is in the air, can you imagine having your proposal/wedding photo shoot in this setting?Absolutely ya!

Red tulips are strongly associated with true love, while purple symbolizes royalty. In this festival, you have the chance to pluck the tulips and give it to your love ones on spot. Its a very nice photo stop for wedding photos or even proposal.
The cool weather in spring (southern hemisphere: September to November) is a plus point,15-18 degrees.
The video below will let you have an overview of what you will be expecting

If your travel period is not within mid september to october,
below are some other alternative…
From mid November till January, you can go for the lavender fields at warratinalavender: http://www.warratinalavender.com.au/

From mid February until April, its the autumn period! The best season for a romantic picnic at the winery in yarra valley to see the full grown grapes and sip on wine and cheese.

After your romantic getaway in the afternoon, relax at the end of your day with your favourite cocktail on the Transit rooftop bar accompanied with the best night view of Melbourne!

Relaxing on a rooftop bar with yarra river night view and the Victorian Arts Centre(Melbourne Eiffel tower) at the background accompanied with live music.
